Sainsbury’s — Colleagues in Focus

This project was about people first. Photographing real colleagues in their own working environments — across Sainsbury’s and its integrated brands Habitat, Argos and Tu — and translating those moments into modular cut-outs that could live flexibly across a wider visual system. Rather than casting or constructing scenes, the focus was on capturing genuine presence: familiar faces, natural body language, and the small human details that make someone recognisable to their colleagues and customers alike.

Each portrait was lit, shot and retouched with modularity in mind, allowing individuals to be seamlessly composited into multiple configurations while still feeling grounded and believable. Alongside the cut-outs, I photographed colleagues in action on the shop floor, building a visual language that balanced clarity with warmth. The aim was consistency without uniformity — imagery that could flex across formats while still feeling personal.

What mattered most was trust. By working on location and with real teams, the images carry an honesty that can’t be styled in afterwards. The result is a set of photographs that sit comfortably between structure and reality: practical, adaptable, and quietly human.
