Floral Tributes at the Royal Residences

With such an incredibly long and transformative reign that seemed to transcend history itself, it’s not surprising that Elizabeth II’s legacy is synonymous with Britishness and deeply embedded into British culture.

When the news broke of Queen Elizabeth II passing crowds soon started to gather outside Buckingham Palace. King Charles III announced the Queen’s mourning period on September 9, the day following Her Majesty’s death.

Flowers and notes tower over mourners’ heads outside Buckingham Palace as bouquets and tributes are stacked one atop the other. Flowers, Paddington bears, and marmalade sandwiches left outside the gates at Windsor Castle.

The famously long queue where the some members of the public waited for over 24 hours to see Her Majesty’s Lying-in-State at the Palace of Westminster.

Reactions of those who had felt strongly for late Queen Elizabeth II as they took time out of their daily routines, across all ages, to pay tribute during their mourning.
